sexthetics
an exhibition by members of chant cooperative
october 29-december 2, 2022
human sexuality is inextricable from and at least partially responsible for contemporary art. drawing from contemporary imagery and concepts, this exhibition destabilizes archaic notions about sexuality that are deeply embedded in art history, revealing hope for a broad-minded future in terms of both what constitutes art and what is considered ideal sexuality. the featured artists emphasize that when sexuality and contemporary art intersect, there is a noticeable political shift and an unavoidable power disruption resulting in dynamic progress.
featuring laura beacom, danielle cunningham, laia forns, emily hammack, tommy mclaughlin, allison risinger, eve rose, and stuart sachs with special guest artist ethan mcqueen.
